Blake's Song of Free Speech & Song
uploaded: Thu, Aug 12, 2010 @ 6:48 AM
There were already so many great spoken word offerings for this project, so I chose to upload an a-cappella. I was inspired by the great poet, William Blake, an early proponent of free-speech. I imagined what he might have thought of this project and wrote an original fantasied lyric from that standpoint, sung in a kind of English lament/balled style. My pell has two versions in different keys (higher and lower register).
Lyric: Lyrics unbridled Freedom released Who owns a human thought? Birds song in trees. Clouds form great manuscripts Stars sing Night’s songs unchained and set free still the Soul longs.
