A field recording of a street auction during the hungry ghost festival in Singapore. Every year, during the 7th month of the Chinese calendar, street auctions pop up on makeshift staages where goods are auctioned to the highest bidder. The money goes into offerings and temple coffers to “appease” the hungry ghosts.
