Artist Spotlight: Brad Sucks![]() The popular and successful Open Music artist, Brad Sucks is also one of the most remixed. His first album “ I Don’t Know What I’m Doing” is one of the best selling albums on Jamendo, Magnatune and just about every Creative Commons friendly place where music is sold. The release of his second album (five years in the making) “ Out of It” is a landmark event that is being watched closely by activists and music fans alike. Brad has just released all of the stems for the album here at ccMixter including all the a cappellas under a Creative Commons license. We are proud to feature Brad in our newest Artist Spotlight with an interview conducted for ccMixter by Randy Cherktow and Jason Freehan, authors of the Indie Band’s Survival Guide: Artist Spotlight: Brad Sucks |
Sample Pool: AudioCookbook.org The latest Sample Pool we’ve enabled on the site is Audio Cookbook which specializes in sound design and releases it samples under a Creative Commons Attribution license. In fact, Audio Cookbook releases a new sound design each day. Peter Kirn from Create Digital Music says: “Sound design secrets have traditionally been closely-guarded secret sauce. But in the age of the Web, the opposite is happening: people can actually enjoy sharing what they’re doing, just as passionate cooks chat about recipes on food blogs.”By agreeing to implement the Sample Pool API (a cinch with any Wordpress music blog) Audio Cookbook is allowing remixers here to easily incorporate their samples and attribute the site in their credits. |
