I listened to this a couple of times - here’s why: the ‘nazi’ quote and the horn blast sample really demanded my attention so I had to concentrate on what was happening around them throughout - the payoff for that was really huge because there’s some really nice textures happening that I missed.

I’m glad you did. Thanks. I tried to find individual pieces/slices from Shimoda’s materials that could either stand alone or complement each other - but I know it ended up being pretty dense in places. Still - one heck of an experience, and one I wouldn’t have been able to really appreciate a year ago. |

Colab, Thanks so very much for that wonderful tour. I appreciate very much your work to mix so many delicate and not so delicate bits of musical ephemera. I do tend to switch things up beat wise, and haven’t even mixed in a while. This mix is making me rethink some of what I’ve been doing with my assignment, a bit late of course. Thanks for an excellent work. In many ways, you put your voice on this piece while still mimicking my style.

Thanks for that - I really appreciate it. I wanted to use a few pieces, but at the same time it was difficult to isolate parts that would sound good together while still treating the material with respect. :) I’m glad you liked - it was a lot of fun to work on. |

The way you intertwined the multiple sources is crazy skillful. I enjoyed this track very much.

Thanks! In some ways it was easy, because Shimoda’s materials are so strong - and in others it was technically tricky because Propellerhead Reason which I use isn’t really built for easy sample management. Thanks though - I really appreciate it. |

Shimoda has that knack of producing unusual soundscapes but building them with really nice blocks of sound and here you have brought this together in a very tasty way.
Lots to like about this! |

Lots to like about this! Thanks - I sort of needed to hear that. You know. Second-guessing and all that. :) In a few ways it was the trickiest remix so far and I’m really glad to get some positive feedback. Thanks for leaving a comment. |

it’s hard to call this an arrangement, at least not in the conventional sense. but you definitely create a linear concept around a very diverse set of source tracks. the cacophony and chaos of your mix plays up the randomness of the source like a snapshot of the randomness of somebody’s day, or on public transportation, with the various people and sounds they encounter. a compelling piece throughout! and the meltdown/fadeout ending is perfect.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure whether other people heard what I heard - I was concerned a few times I made it too mainstream given the source materials, so there you go. :) Thanks for leaving a comment. |

I think it´s hard to remix Shimoda. But you win on this effort. Congrats.

Hahah - thanks. :) In some ways it was very easy, because Shimoda’s materials offer a wide range of harmonies / mixed sounds to choose from. Thanks for leaving a comment! |

I think this was an easy job for you, wasn_t it? ;-)
You_ve already mentioned it, Shimoda offers a crazy mixture of style, sound and tempo, so it might be a challenge to work with. But you found for my opinion a very suitable sample pool for your awesome skills to remix a “crazy” re-remix. For some reasons I think you should do more work like this, you are really good in! Bravo my friend! |

Thank you very much for those kind words.
Yes, it was easy, but really only because I used so much of Shimoda’s materials. Honestly, I felt a little bit like cheating by pasting together a few bits and pieces - especially compared to what some other people did with their materials. But it’s really nice to get some positive feedback like this - and good to hear from you. I’ll be in touch soon. :) |

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I just got back from Sweden. Thanks for going back to listen to this one - and for the very nice words. |
