Thank you for that - and for commenting on my “sound”. I sometimes think I dabble in too many genres, so I’m particularly glad you hear some consistency in them. :)

Thanks again.

Well she does bring out the Jazz vibe in a player thats for sure.

Theres not much vocal there and you have done the best at making it feel as though its not being repeated.

There is a tuning issue dont quite know whos out in places but a nice trippy jazzy buzzy mix on my sunny day here.

Thanks for the comment about the vocals - it’s criminally short, but I really wanted to do something with it anyway. :)

Re: tuning - the piano sections are mostly OK with the vocals so I think it’s something to do with how the distortion box impacts the bass and hammond. If I knew anything about the science of frequencies and harmonics that might help. :)

Thanks for the review.

Thanks. Re: two-fer - I did them as two separate songs and was going to upload them as individual remixes when it occurred to me that they would work well as as single track. Sort of like a sweet and sour thing.

Re: piano/bass playing - thanks again. I had really missed being away from my everyday keyboard. :)

Turns out that what I really want you to do is play some jazz as well! I’ve fallen in love with this. Your backing track is fab-u-lous and I can’t hear enough of MR’s seductive, husky voice. Pure joy.

Well, thank you very much for that. Makes me very happy to get a thumbs up like that.

And I couldn’t agree with you more about MR’s vocals - so unique, and can really go with so many types of tracks.

Thanks for the review.

And I loved reading this! Thanks. :)

Melody’s melody made it possible to do the whole major/minor chord switch without manipulating the vocals - so it made my work a lot easier.

Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated.

Cool, man, cool. Over easy. You gonna offer up that piano stem?

Thanks!

Re: stems - I’m inclined to say “no”, because when heard in isolation the piano doth suck, and it pleases not the ear. But then that wouldn’t be the jazz thing to do, so yeah - I’ll upload the full instrumentals as stems later.

Thanks again for the thumbs up.

It is done, young Walker. For the second part the bass is sort of needed in order for the piano to make sense, so I uploaded the stems for that too.

Thanks, I’ll download. Of course you realize if I use them they’ll probably end up more scrambled than over easy. One of these days I’ll get around to uploading some samples for downloading, then you’ll see how much your piano does not suck.

Very creative and a great way to welcome home the keyboard!

Production and engineering are spot on as well!

Thank you!

Honestly, I was concerned the sound was a bit too muddy when I heard it today on the old stereo - so I’m really glad you didn’t hear it the same way.

Funny thing about travelling. I’m glad I had something to play on when I was away, but I don’t think I’ll settle for doing that again unless it’s absolutely required.

love it when you go all retro and “unplugged” - (metaphorically speaking of course!)

Hahaha - very good. :)

I love the electronic stuff as you know, but every so often I need to do something like this in order to keep balanced.

Thanks for the support and for leaving a comment.

Just for some analytic things on tuning, I can echo LS. There seem to be a few notes a bit out of tune, which is not abig problem though, but you can hear them. I havn_t rebuild this track even if you have gently uploaded all stems, but sometimes you can use more “open” chords to suit a light micro detuning from a vocalist. Don_t know if this would work here.

Oh, before I forget: smooth playing, great arrangment and already mentioned, a warm sound that a fine jazz tune needs.

I don’t think it would work, because it would require some understanding of the music theory behind your suggestion. :) :)

Thanks for the support on this one and for leaving a comment.

Thanks!

I had an idea when I started this to create a very fast upbeat track - so I used the “keep on movin” forensic track I did before as a starting point (hence the mostly same sounds) - but once I got started the vocals led me somewhere rather different.

Did I mention before that I really like these vocals? :)

Thanks for the review.

This has been up here for a handful of days and I’m just now finding out? The one thing I wish is that ccmixter would send me a message when someone posts something with one of my pellas.

Goodness. This is some nice playing - voicing and colorings. I think I may just download the stems and do something specific with what you’ve made. That should solve the tonality issues. I’m always going for “slightly flat” - like a horn’s intonation - which gets over better with a live sound than it does in recording with absolutes, I’m finding.

Ahh now - there is such a fine feature to help. :)

Look at the left side of the page under “notifications”, and you can select the ones that make sense.

Why thank you. I’m pleased as heck you liked it.

Re: tonalities - I could have also done things differently if I had taken the proper care to listen to the track through different speakers/headphones.

But if you end up with a longer version, I’ll jump on the opportunity to work with it. :)

Thanks again - really glad you liked.

Thanks for that!

Before this track I had gone through a period of darker electronic stuff, so it was a nice return to basics for me - plus a bit of experiment with doing the two interpretations in the same song.

Glad you liked - and thanks for leaving a review.
