This word gets over-used in reviews, but this is wonderfully organic and warm. First time for me hearing this pella, and the BT really brings out a combination of world-weariness and emotion that works very well; I love it when remixes are musically unique, yet also seem so natural to the ear!

Oh, I’m OK with you using it - makes me pleased as heck, because that’s pretty much the feeling I was hoping for.

Re: pella - I came across it through one of the remixes of it - but they’re both gone now. I must have liked it though, because that’s pretty much the way I discover pellas to work with. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up and for taking the time to leave a comment.

nice work Colab…
a contemporary apache-dance or tango…mellow yet saucy. The mix sounds clean and crisp too with the headphones.

An unusual and quite attractive gathering of elements. Just outside the norm, right where I like it.

Haha - yes, I know. :)

Once the guitar chopping was done I started thinking about rhythms, and I had just watched this clip which has caused me to obsess with old drum sounds.

Thanks for stopping by to listen and comment.

That clip was quite entertaining, thanks. I also got a good laugh from their version of I Kissed a Girl.

IMO the fact of deconstruct and create something new from the pieces is summarize the composition process; I think that when somebody compose a melody or a chord progression he/she doesn’t create something new but he/she finds a new combination. This is a very platonic point of view, the music is there, floating in the air waiting to be found…
I like a lot what you made with 1962 and I’m happy you’ve reached something different mixing it with the other sources. Good work!

Thanks for that. Really glad you liked, especially given my habit of cutting your pieces into little bits. :)

I very much like your description - that’s a beautiful way to think about it. That’s true anywhere you go, but particularly true here at ccM where music floats in the air all the time. :)

Thanks again.

Thanks for the thumbs up.

I actually didn’t think I left any space, but then I heard BOCrew’s version and realized how wrong I was about that. :)

Sax all you want.

When I get notified there’s a new one from you, I know for certain it’s going to be something special. And I’m never disappointed. This is wonderful, C, and I love the winding threads of accordion. Everything you do is just so exceptional - musically, I mean. Possibly you’re no good at making cakes. xxxx

Umm. You get notified? Does that qualify as stalking?

Ah well. I suppose I can live with that. You know. Because it’s not like I have a choice. :)

So - this track. Thank you for the very kind words. I was doing a few practice tracks this weekend for the October 2009 secret mixter thing, and this one worked out well enough to upload. Glad you agreed.

Re: making cakes. No. No cakes. But I boil a mean spaghetti. Just the right level of al dente. And I’m pretty good at picking a red wine to go with it. :)

In your last two songs, this one and The Hunter I can sense a new approach in yor composing. They are very different in their expression but there is a similar looser, more free form sense in them. It might be a coincidence, nevertheless, both are among your best work ever.

Let’s call it coincidence. Or maybe a fluke. :)

I honestly can’t comment on the similarities, because I approached them very differently; but I am very glad to hear you liked them both.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

This is great. Has a very cool mood of “avantgarde” songwriting with all these “world music elements”.
Something different from you, but not surprising as we all know that you have (mostly) to offer something new from the mixing kitchen!

Thanks for pointing out the different elements - definitely the basis for this were the uploads by Pitx and Cdala. I love both of their samples (even if I did manipulate the Pitx guitar rather severely!) :)

It’s funny to hear you say this is a different type of a track, because to me it’s taken right from the same bag of tricks. Ah well. :)

Thanks for the support on this one - much appreciated.

Thank you very much - I’m glad you commented on the mixing, because this was mostly about putting together the other elements.

Almost as if caught on the fly, as in Paris, in the many streets of the capital. The effect is stunning ….

Lovely and unusual, as stated before. This melting pot works surprisingly well. I guess it takes a very good chef to cook up a coherent soup like this. What gave you away are some of those typically Colab-chords.

Haha - thanks much.

I would make a terrible baker-man. That’s all about precise science. I mash and mush things together without a real sense of what will work beforehand; and serve them up if they taste good. And whatever doesn’t goes into the trash. :)

Thanks again - much appreciate that you took the time to leave a comment.
