Very catchy, danceable and professional. I was trying to listen to how you’ve solved the transitions but there aren’t any! Everything is so well integrated.

Ahh - it’s all smoke and mirrors, I assure you. And crazy glue. :)

Thanks for that though - I wanted it to be a smooth ride through Vidian-land without unneccesary bumps and whatnot. Glad you liked.

Mikael, I love the idea and how incredibly well it is executed. This very much reminds me of an Annie Mac MiniMix (from BBC Radio1). As always fantastic job!

A seamless presentation. What a great way to choose to do it. Very well done and very enjoyable.

Hey - thanks for that. Glad you liked the idea . Once I realized the wide range of material that Vidian had the idea came to me really quickly.

Thanks again - much appreciated.

You rock! What a thoughtful and incredibly well executed piece! Vidian is very lucky to have you as his secret mixter.

Thank you very much - glad you liked.

I was lucky though - it was incredibly easy working with his tracks because they were already so good.

Thanks again. I’m slowly working through the list uploads (listening through the 7th one as I type) - and I agree with your forum post - the quality of the tracks is just blowing me away.

Oh My God.
This is flawless. Its amazing how much smaller details from other songs you use in the background while another is in the foreground. You did an amazing job… I’m honoured that you got me. Actually I have an email that comes when you submit something si thats how I found out. I was wondering who your remixed in the email and to my surprise… it was ME!!! If I could have chose who I wanted to remix me, it would have been you. I know how versatile you are :D

And yeah, Ive been here for a while :D I like that: An old-timer at 21. :P

Trust me - I was very pleased to get assigned you because there was just so much good material to choose from.

When I first got the assignment note I had about 30 minutes of wondering what the heck I would do - but once I started listening to all of your tracks it came together very quickly.

I’m pleased as hell that you like it - I was pretty worried thinking maybe it wasn’t enough, or maybe too much. You know the feeling. :)

Thanks again - really appreciate your comment.

Haha - thanks. :)

I wouldn’t have tried to pull this off a year ago because I never had the tools to attempt it. Now I’m worried it might become the next addiction. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up and taking the time to leave a comment. I am very slowly progressing through the full set of remixes submitted today.

you’ve brought all of your characteristic urban mirth & aplomb to this one. drawing us in & later making us wonder , ‘hey, what the hell was that all about?’
a masterful mix.

Hahahah - thank you PM. Although I think you’re talking about someone else since I don’t recognize myself in that description. :)

Thanks though - means a lot. I was stressing about this one because the original idea came together very, very quickly, and then I started tinkering and tuning and obsessing over small details in a way that led to severe second-guessing.

Thanks for the thumbs up. Much appreciated.

If I were giving a party I’d just have this looped all night. I wouldn’t need anything else - not even guests. I’d invite you and Vid, though. Masterpiece, Colab. xxxx

Now that would be a fun party. :)

Thank you much. I had a lot of fun working with Vidian’s tracks because they were already so bloody good that I didn’t have to worry about much other than getting them to play along nicely.

Thanks again - that’s terrific to hear.

this is great! Smooth and fun and a little different for you. I really like it! And what a Remix history chart! There’s even a few dotted lines back to my studio. :-)

Thanks much Spin.

Re: style - yeah, I made a decision to really showcase Vidian’s tracks this time around. It’s oddly addictive. I may have to do that again. :)

Re: mixing history - you’re not kidding. Vidian uses a bunch of sources in his tracks, and when you take 10 of them it adds up to a best of ccM sort of thing. :)

Thanks! Really glad to hear you liked the transitions - I spend a good amount of time tweaking that. Practically all the time after that initial forum post was spent on those types of details. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up - glad you liked.

Now that’s a hell of a comment - thank you much.

There’s no doubt I wouldn’t have been able to take on one of these a year ago. Putting aside tools/techniques, the bigger limitation is that it wouldn’t have occurred to me. :)

Thanks for the support - I very much appreciate it.

What can I say that the others haven’t? Nothing. Except to give you this . Oh, it deserves one more for good measure. . Dude. You have some honest-to-goodness remixing talents. And the track oozes sincerity. Really.

Now that is a very cool thing to read.

My intent was to show off Vidian’s music in the best light possible. I could have done a lot of things to cut/splice/glitch up the music, but for this one I tried to stay true to that original intent throughout.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and post a comment.

Another thing - in your How You Did It page, you wrote: “So much of my time at ccM is about taking other people’s materials and adding my personal stamp on it - but Secret Mixter gives me an opportunity to do more traditional remixes - in this case to showcase Vidian’s material without drastically changing it.”

Got me thinking. Unconsciously, my mental model of a “remix” is a process where two or more people collaborate. And so I’ve always naturally assumed, and desired, to add something to that collaborative process (admittedly in some remixes, my sound ends up louder than others). Reading what you wrote just made me ask if I’d inadvertently broken some unspoken rule here. I doubt so (or so I hope). I’m aware there’s no “right way” where remixing is concerned. The ccMixter tagline says “Download, Sample, Cut-up, Share”. How about a “Add To” as part of the tagline? I’m just thinking aloud, that’s all (if this post is better posted at the Forum, I apologise).

No apology necessary, and absolutely no rules broken.

I think of it exactly the same way you do. My point was that this track is the closest to a traditional remix I’ve done, which was an interesting challenge for me.

I’ll be back to my usual programming soon where everything sounds like colab no matter who originally made it. :)

Lots of fun but seriously smart mix here Colab. A tough balance to strike. I’ll admit I just listened to this on my laptop while I was doing dishes but I promise to do it justice on my headphones or real speakers very soon :-).

Hey - thanks for that - very nice to hear.

Because I used no new instrumentation on this, the only real tool I had was to pick what snippets made sense, and in what order - so that it would tell a coherent story. Oh, and I wanted it to kick ass too. :)

Glad you liked - thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

I nearly don_t know any remixes of Vidian, but thanks for giving an impression of his talent in a sort of slight show! ;-)

This track definetly prooves that you are a hell of a remixer!
Hats off for a stunning work. It sounds like kaleidoscope, don_t know how to describe it better..

I canb see why vidian is so happy with this remix. You cn be also and proud of it.
Did I already told you that I am a fan? ;-)

Thank you - I very much appreciate it.

This was a bit of a different direction for me. In one way I felt like I was doing too little because I didn’t add anything musically - this was more about piecing together parts like a mosaic.

Thanks for being a fan. :)

Hey thank you for that - that’s a really nice compliment.

If the music sounds good it’s all because of Vidian - I didn’t change or add to his music - only layered stuff he had already created before.

Thanks again.

Hahaha - no upcoming shows. I don’t have nearly the skills to pull this off in real-time - and unfortunately you don’t get four hours per song when DJ-ing. :)

Thanks though - this was absolutely a lot of fun to work on, and I’m really glad you liked.
