The song….. Ethereal. Another nice Fender Rhodes solo as well!

Thanks much FB.

Re: solo - I was actually thinking of cutting it because it didn’t feel 100% - but I had nothing else to put in its place, so it stayed. :)

Thanks for the kind words.

Is this one of your best, Mikael? I think so. Great treatment of Ciggi’s pella reverbwise. The music? Very inspired, cool and confident. Overall, absobloodylutely lovely!

Thank you Per - I very much appreciate it. This went through a number of iterations last night - the last one being to cut about 50% of the stuff I had thrown in over the course of the evening. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up and the review.

This is a piece of beauty. Great vocals by Ciggi and wonderfully restrained backing music by you, together creating the perfect mood. Excellent!

Thank you for that. I mentioned to Per above that I cut a lot of stuff out of it. At one point I had a lot of glitchy sort of garbage drums that built up bit by bit - but then struck me that the vocals are strong enough to carry the mix pretty much by themselves.

Thanks again.

You’ve made me feel tearful this is so very beautiful, M, and I agree with Per (I try always to agree with him) that the reverb is perfection. All that you do is of such high quality and it’s a real privilege to be included. Thank you. xxxx

And thank you. It’s always a pleasure for me.

This upload of yours triggered a lot in me, so it became quite a personal track for me towards the end.

I told you to not be too surprised to see another track featuring your vocals. Glad you liked. :)

Thank you Anchor. I mentioned above that there was a point in the process where this track was the total opposite of what you describe - I’m glad I went with my instincts and didn’t upload that version. :)

Thanks again.

Really really good actually - like a top chefs signature dish, the ingredients complement each other, the texture is heaven to the palate and the end result is close to perfection. This is definitely a mix to be proud of.

I like that - thank you for that description. I wish I could identify with it though - in my case it’s much more happenstance and therefore much less repeatable. :)

Thanks for the listen and for taking the time to review.

This is music and words together, aware and sharing. A beautiful treatment of a beautiful vocal.

Thank you for that.

I kept going back and forth between stripping down the sound to just the piano and vocals; and something more messy - and was a bit worried it would end up a schizophrenic mess.

Glad you liked.

So Smooth. Like a small performance in a jazzy club, and the bass player is from the future playing on his holo-Cello :P Im all about the scifi

Yeah - on this one I threw out the traditional band and managed to pick up these excellent guys from just past Betelgeuse. :)

Thanks for the thumbs-up.

I love the minimalism of the bass! (especially as I just threw the new bass line of my last remix into the trashbin…)

Thanks - I spent a good amount of time rummaging through the old sound library looking for just the right sound that would give the sub-bass feel yet not kill the overall soundscape.

Satie-esque melancholy splendor. Deeply emotional and tender. Beautiful.

Ohhh - you just had to mention Satie, didn’t you? One of my favourites. :)

Thanks for the kind words.

Ahh yes. This one. Fantastic video, and excellent track. The album was a bit uneven, but that is a hell of a track.

The comparison gives my track too much credit, but thank you anyway - very much appreciated.

Pretty smooth… THe rhodes in the middle gives a lot of life to the song… That was a pretty good move!

Thanks. :)

I did it partly just to fill the empty space, and partly because the lyrics shift to something more hopeful at the end.

Thanks for the thumbs up - much appreciated.

Thank you for that - it means a lot, because it was a very concious effort to scale it down (at one point I had three more drum tracks and an additional arp synth thing going on).

Then again - I wouldn’t have ended up with this track if I hadn’t laid down those ideas first. Funny how that works. :)

All smart things have been said already. Agree with Old Dog, using as little as possibel to say as much as possible. Lovely work.

Thank you for that - I think I mentioned a few times above that even though the initial idea came quickly, I ended up spending a good amount of time trying to get that balance right.

Thanks again - much appreciated.

The distant piano adds a lonely quality to CiggiBurns’ melancholy vocal. Its a piece full of space to walk in, and even as the parts begin to amble in (EQed muddy and far away), the song remains wide open to insert a daydream or two. :)

That’s really great to hear you say, because that’s pretty much exactly what I was shooting for. Thanks for that.

Thanks for that - this continues to be one of my favourites, so it means a lot.

Ciggi’s vocals really brought this out - she’s been a great inspiration for me here at ccm.

Thanks again - much appreciated.
