I really like the build up and your solo (which I would have loved to hear more in the forefront of the mix). I also always appreciate a mix that helps focus the vocal which you did splendidly here. Bravo Sir Colab!

Thank ye, milady, for thy kind words. :) I’m glad you mentioned mixing the vocals up front - these days I spend a lot of time trying to get that balance right. That’s also partly why I try not to overdo things like solos or whatnot. Thanks though - much appreciated. |

Oh, this is so good. It’s very personal, doesn’t sound like anything else I’ve heard that I can think of now.
Very nice build up of the drumming and you’ve done a fantastic work with Ciggis pella placing her nicely in the front of everything. The 6/8 tempo doesn’t sound odd at all to me. The last third, with Ciggi singing must hurt you… together with your solo in just fantastic. Great work! |

That’s just about the best thing to hear - thank you for that. Really glad you liked the rhythms. I tried to sneak them in - using filters to keep them sort of subdued and percolating. Also - thanks for the mention of the last part. When Ciggi sings that part it rips a hole in me - every time. Thanks again. Really glad you liked since your track was the origin of this pella. |

Oh you’re a demon, Colab. This is just extraordinary. So good and so sad it twists my heart. xxxx

Thank you. I had thought this was going to be a lighter diversion to get my head back into music, and instead it turned into something different. Your vocals really increase in intensity throughout, and I wanted to add elements to gradually match that emotion and energy. Glad you liked. I really enjoyed working on it. |

The very nice treatment of Ciggi’s lyrics, and the instrumental backdrop; evoke a latter period David Sylvian to these ears. Quite enjoyable.

And that’s quite enjoyable to hear - thank you. The instrumentals started somewhere entirely different and slowly mutated into something more electronic. Glad you liked. |

a really exceptional mix. the BT matches the intensity & resolve of Cig’s lyrical tour de force beautifully.

Thanks for that PM - and for the listen. I probably didn’t do myself any favours with the slow build-up, but the vocal delivery has that edge that enters little by little and I wanted to try to match it. Thanks again. Much appreciated. |

Spiffy, jazzy and a bit of a challenge, which I like. The build, especially rhythmically, is a joy. As is the vocal integration. There is one thing though - that instrument/track that comes in on “you’re the best, you’re the most…” seems a rather harsh element in what is otherwise a very cool piece. Maybe it’s just the frequency of it that doesn’t sit well in my head, anyway… just one man’s opinion.

Ahh. Yes. That’s a tricky sound. This was a headphone mix (as usual) and I only noticed afterwards the effect that sound can have on some speakers. The funny thing is that I picked it because it was gentle. :) Thanks for the comments - really glad you liked the build-up and the vocal integration because both were important to me on this one. |

This track reminded me of Scandinavian winters, for some reason. And the strange thing is that I’ve only been to Norway once. It was cold but it wasn’t snowing. Nice sophisticated track, colab.

This is most excellent. What a beautiful piece. Even though it was not really intentional, I feel that the mix of 6/4 and 4/4 gives this song an extra edge which adds to the high quality of the track. And let’s not forget Ciggi’s wonderful vocals. Splendid!

Thanks for the very, very kind words. The first track I laid down (and subsequently removed) for the vocals was a straight rhodes riff in 6/4 whose sole purpose was to guide the later additions. So I originally created it to be 6/4 with the higher BPM to make it possible. Then I started playing around with 4/4 segments, because I like how they re-join the beat every three repetitions. Glad you mentioned the vocals - they really connected with me on a personal level. Great delivery. Thanks again. |

mmm, not sure how this went of my radar. You really have a skill for making subtle yet melodic peices. Has such a marshmellow soft feel that selflessly gives up the stage for cigs pipes to lead the show (but the crowds dig the whole delivery).
Great choice of almost spooky keys from what I can only imagine is an old 70’s man sized organ that has about 4 presets max (my dad has one ;-) and who doesn’t love a bit of electric piano/organ. |

Thanks for that. I’ve been increasingly experimenting with that and this was probably as far as I can push minimalism in the intro without it just being the pella and nothing else. :) The keys are from a lovingly sampled Rhodes MKII with additional distortion effects to give it that cracked speaker feel. Love the reference - thanks. |

Ahhh! This is the kind of music that means something when I hear it. It’s a pure delight every time I stumble over such a thing :)

Takk, min venn. That’s an incredibly nice thing to read, especially because it’s a bit of a niche track (I didn’t really think it would appeal to anyone other than me!) Thanks for taking the time to listen and to leave a comment. |

You were very clever making the beat almost invisible! This sounds pretty experimental…and delightful to my ears… Very good amigo!

Muchas gracias, amigo mío. I went minimal for the intro - really tried to reduce everything to the bare minimum and then slowly introduce more and more rhythms/instruments. Very glad you liked - thanks for the listen and the review. |

No actual Spanish skills - sorry! I’ve found the google translator to be scarily accurate in Swedish, so I figured it can’t be too bad for Spanish. :) Thanks for the thumbs up. A written review means a lot more to me though - so thanks for that. |

Well… Swedish is a good language too, I think. I don’t speak a word in Swedish thought. But you guys developed Reason and that is something!!!
It is nice always to hear and to review your songs… It seems to me you put a lot of dedication To them and that always produce a result worthy of speak about. |

Why Swedish?
I use it for Dutch (moving back to Amsterdam in July) and it’s great. |

I use it for Dutch (moving back to Amsterdam in July) and it’s great. Why Swedish? I am Swedish. :) I’ve been away for too long though. I’m losing the language bit by bit. The first to go are the tricky less-often used words, but it’ll all leave me eventually. Soon enough the number of years I’ve been in Canada will overtake the years I spent in Sweden - and at that point it will be official. |
