Haha - yeah, I agree. I honestly wouldn’t have discovered MM otherwise (as you can tell from my recent uploads all being with Ciggi Burns) - but it was a hell of a nice thing to be assigned MM. Really opened up my eyes to a whole new thing.

Glad you liked. :)

BTW Mikael, I hear loads of Magic Moon in this mix and I also definitely hear that colab touch.

Hey thanks. I know it sort of breaks the pattern you’ve set out in your music, but as I was thinking of an angle to bring all of your tracks together and infuse a bit of myself, I just gravitated to a slower track.

Hope you didn’t mind too much. :)

well i enjoy it all…. that’s what makes it fun, everyone has their own style to stuff. that’s the part i enjoy most when someone remixes anything i put here.

Impressive quilting of so many samples while retaining such a strong final result. Love your mastering here. It’s the way I like my snow (steep and deep).

Thanks for that. The number belies the ease of it - maybe four or five of the 11 were vocals and were a lot easier to match than the musical ones.

Thanks though - this was a lot of fun to work on.

It really is a Magic Moon showcase, so practically everything you here is stuff that he put together. But I really appreciate the comment about how the parts build on each other - thanks for that.

Wow. Ubercool, sexy, ultragroovy and…new! Using all these samples and getting them together as one seamless piece just shows how talented you are. This is 2010 music.

I promise I didn’t copy you by using the word ‘seamless’. We just happen to be on the same wavelength! xxx

Oh, I like that description. But like I said above, I couldn’t have come up with half of the source materials that MM did. I just did a copy/paste thing. Som att göra ett collage på dagis. :)

First, I am incredibly impressed by the number of MM’s samples you’ve incorporated seamlessly into this piece. Second, I just love the fact it has that Colab edge to it - immaculate precision just about to tip over into an exciting insanity! There’s no one like you, C. xxxx

Whoa - thank you. Glad you heard colab in there somewhere, and I appreciate the “precision” comment. At times I was worried about it being messy.

Thanks again.

Haha - thanks. Yes, that’s my weapon of choice these days - and yesterday just as I was sitting down to do the finishing touches and upload I had had quite a number. On an empty stomach. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up.

Thank you, but I assure you that the wizard here is Magic Moon - the only elements I added were the rhodes, some 808 drums and a very simple bass. He did all the cool wobbly basses and background synth sounds.

Glad you liked - thanks for leaving a comment.

Thanks - especially the eq/timbre comment, because I’ve been focusing more on mixing over the past year.

Re: slow swing - I noticed that slowing down the various sources brought out more of that sort of groove rather than a techno/dance feel which resonated with me straight away.

Thanks for the support on this one - much appreciated.

Sometimes I really hate being late to the party because everyone before has already said true and clever things — but every nice thing said before me about this track is well deserved! This is a fantastic remix that masterfully blends a wide variety of source in an inimitably Colab way (that you know happens to be a way that I very much enjoy). Now, I think I will have a Stella — sounds perfect just about now!

Thanks, but in this case all the credit goes to MM - I didn’t change the vocals at all but just used them as-is. MM has a great ear and hand for using auto-tune.

Thanks though - really appreciate it.

yeah see this is what I thought I should be doing with this whole secret mixter thing—taking great source material and making it you own. You manged to take god knows how many samples and still make it sounds like you—-It takes alot to be able to that me thinks. Really like the use of vocals and of course its all very Stella—

Ahh now - thank you, but you make it sound more advanced than it was. I simply picked tracks and pieces of tracks that sounded like me in the first place. :)

Thanks for the very nice words.

Thanks - particularly the craftsmanship comment, because that’s more what doing a mix like this is about - making sure the edges are lined up and that the table legs are the same length. :)

Thanks again - much appreciated.

What really blows me away is that you used so many different samples from Magic Moon and they works so well together. It reminds me of those quilted blankets with the various patches but collectedly make a intricate whole.

I really like the effects of the vocal samples and the mixing, great job.

It’s actually a lot fewer pieces than you think, because so many of them were either vocals or easier things like two bass sounds and an ambient thingamajig. :)

But thank you - I appreciate it. It was a lot of fun getting them to play together nicely.

I’ll reiterate what I said before - this really is a Magic Moon track - I just happened to pick a few parts that sounded good together. ;)

Thanks. In honesty it really was less complex than you might think because the source materials were so strong in the first place - and as you probably know by now, Record makes it really easy to work with audio this way.

Thanks again - very much appreciated.

Hey thanks, but I can’t take any credit for any of the vocal effects etc - it’s all Magic Moon who did that. This secret mixter was a good excuse to work on using practically all source materials and add very little of myself.

Glad you liked.

Thanks for that - much appreciated - but I feel a bit like an impostor and a cheat to take too much credit for this since most of it’s straight out of MM’s sources.

Thanks though - great to hear.

you’re not an impostor or a cheat.

you’re a remixer, an aggressive appropriator.

you know how to use samples in a way that results in something unique.
Just the right balance between experimental and keeping it simple.
